Kishtwar, May 27 (KNO): In a tragic incident, three visually impaired brothers were killed in mountainous Kishtwar district last night when their house collapsed. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a residential house collapsed in Puller hamlet of Nagseni tehsil last night due to continuous rainfall in the area for the past two days. “Three of the inmates died on the spot while two others were rescued,” he said, adding that the deceased were visually impaired. The officer said that the mother and sister of the deceased were rescued by locals. The deceased siblings have been identified as Sajan Kumar (28) Rajesh Kumar (30) and Ravinder Kumar (32) from Puller Kishtwar. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Evansh Yadav while confirming the incident said that Red Cross has announced the financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to the bereaved family. He also announced the ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased so that they can cope up with the tragedy. Pertinently, for the last three-days in Kishtwar and a total of 14 lives were lost during this period in the district in different incidents triggered by the incessant rains. On May 26, four members of a nomadic family were killed after a tree fell on their tent while on May 25, seven workers of a power project were killed and three others injured when a vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle—(KNO)
